Heinz – "I love Winter"

Love the creative on this advert. Comforting, warming and just what you need after the gripes of a horribly British wintery day. "All...forgotten". Copywriter Richard McGrann Art director Andy Clough This is what Campaign has to say about it... "Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has created an ad for the Heinz Classics Soup range to remind people of the comfort a bowl can bring as the winter draws in. The TV spot is supported by radio work with voiceovers from celebrities such as Caroline Quentin and Tom Baker."

"I never read The Economist"

Now these iconic lines are available to buy as prints. Humorous and well written they are part of a range of hugely successful print / outdoor ads by Abbot Mead Vickers that I absolutely loved. However successful they are just as words, some of the other successful ones weren't just typography based... (pause while I search for some of the others that tickled my fancy and see below).

Pick Me Up 2012

Little bit late with this post, but getting there in the end. Had to queue up for around 90 minutes to get into the blasted thing as I chose to go on the last late-night Thursday viewing before it finished. I don't remember it being as popular the year before?? Its popularity must be coming on in leaps and bounds. There were a few stand-out pieces for me this year, those are the ones I'll post now...

MIMI LEUNG

'Drive' trailer parody

The Inception one is pretty good too...

Gimme a wet one!

Don't even know where this comes from, but it's adorable! If I had a space outdoors with a clothes line, I'd most definitely be painting my pegs!

Bootfair bargain!

New favourite ring!

Guinness 'Round up your mates' for St Patrick's Day

We all know St. Paddy's day calls for a Guinness. The copywriting in this ad is outstandingly witty. Great concept, superb writing and brilliantly executed.

And of course, it'd be rude not to...

David Shrigley at The Hayward.

On the hottest day of the year so far I ventured to the Southbank ... to go and wander around INDOORS at the Hayward Gallery and see the David Shrigley exhibition. Even though it was inside, I thoroughly enjoyed it and even tret myself to a 99er! (Though it set me back a whopping £3!! I can hear myself coming out with, "In my day...").

Shrigley takes a sideways look on life with an incredibly irreverent sense of humour that comes out in his loose and crudely drawn illustrations – they are all the more charming because of this scribbled look and feel. I read recently that he does at least 30 sketches a day, which perhaps explains the vast number of sketches. His animations were great too, and his sculptures, very interesting.

Here are some photos from my trusty iPhone, with a few 'borrowed' from this blog: http://lovingmyjetlag.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/recommendation-of-week-david-shrigley.html

ps: The insecty sculptures remind of a couple of scenes in Beetlejuic :)

I also wandered into Jeremy Deller's exhibition and went back in time to the 90s. Despite going to see Shriggers, the only souvenirs me and the fella picked up were from Jeremy's exhibition. He tret himself to a tshirt, and I splashed out on a postcard.

Back from the dead...

I plan to resurrect this blog sharpish!

It's been a long long while since my last post but I'm hoping now (after many attempts to remember my old password for my old email account and passing verification tests) that blogging will be second nature to keep track of inspirational things I come across and to show off anything creative I do in work and play. Here's hoping I'll be true to my word.
